True Chamomile
True chamomile is a lovely, wonderfully scented plant with many medicinal benefits. Chamomile (tea) is soothing, beneficial for respiratory infections, skin and intestinal problems, and inflammation. This one-year all-rounder is therefore a must have for your garden or balcony. It is very easy to grow in a pot, balcony box or open ground. You only have to sow once because it sows itself again. This herb also attracts bees and we love that!
Sowing
True chamomile is sown thinly in the open ground or pot from March. It can be placed in the sun or in partial shade. Only press the seeds lightly and do not cover them. The germination period is two to three weeks. Thin out a bit if necessary. The height is between 30 and 40 centimeters.
Drying
Sow a lot because you can easily dry real chamomile. Chamomile that is freshly harvested and dried yourself tastes much better! Harvest in full bloom and hang them in bunches in the shade on a nice warm and dry day. Preferably with some wind. Indoors or in the shed is also possible, but don't make the bunches too thick.
