Thai Basil
Thai basil is not only very tasty but also a beautiful annual plant for your border. The plant has purple stems with narrow green leaves and lilac pink flowers that will attract many bees. The leaves are spicy, strongly aromatic and indispensable in Asian dishes. Also a good seasoning for meat, soup and sauces. Thai basil is easy to grow in a pot or open ground. You can also dry the sturdy leaves.
Sowing
Sow thinly in a seed tray indoors from the end of March to July and plant out after about four weeks, or in a flower pot and thin out a bit if necessary. Place basil outside in a sheltered, warm spot. Indoors on the windowsill is also very good. Basil does not like too much water, keeping the soil moist is sufficient.
