I think corn is a beautiful plant that simply belongs in the vegetable garden. Waving beautifully in the wind and providing some shade to the plants that need it. Marvel that this little seed will grow bigger than you in no time. Corn is one of the most genetically modified plants in the world. So sad actually, but luckily we have the original seed of this very old variety and you will soon too!
Few fertilizers
This sweet corn is happy with little fertilizer and is a very easy plant. You can sow the corn in biodegradable pots or toilet roll and plant it in the ground from mid-May to June. You can of course plant directly in the ground, keep a distance of 20 cm between the seeds/cuttings. If you want multiple rows, maintain a row spacing of 70 cm. If side shoots grow, break or cut them off. All growth will then go to the two cobs on the main stem.
Long-term storage
If you plan to plant an entire field of corn, Golden Bantam can be stored for a very long time once the cobs are dried. You can also freeze the fresh cobs. Pick the corn immediately when the tassel has dried.
