Arugula grows very quickly and can be harvested 3 to 4 weeks after sowing. Esmee is a variety with a spicy, nutty and not bitter taste. As you know, arugula is delicious to make pesto or as a salad. It is easy to grow in a pot or in the open ground. Make sure you have enough water, as a shortage will lead to premature flowering. Allow the plants to flower after a few harvests, this will attract many beneficial insects. At a later stage you can dry the seeds for the next season. Sow all year round

From March you can sow outdoors in rows. Sow very thinly with attention. When the young plants have space, they grow better and bigger. If necessary, thin out some more. Place them in half sun and half shade, the type of soil does not matter much. Sufficient water is important. Pre-sowing indoors in pots is very easy. You then have more control over distributing the seed. You can plant the rocket in the ground later.

In the cold months you can sow arugula Esmee indoors in a container on cotton wool or soil, for example. The plants will become smaller.
