Parsnip was called vegetables forgotten for a while. But luckily this delicacy has been rediscovered. This carrot is extremely versatile, easy to grow and the taste is wonderfully light sweet. This popular parsnip type has almost white carrots and a thin smooth skin.

Sow

Sow in slightly moist and nutrient -rich soil in April or May. Do this in a sunny spot and, like other carrot species, sow very thin in lines in the loose soil. Thin the young plants on the rise. You keep 1 plant per 5 cm. That way the roots do not oppress each other. Give them just enough water so that they do not dry out.

It takes a while before these tasty rascals can finally leave the ground. You harvest between the end of September and March. Parsnip is fine against frost, so only harvest when you eat them. To get the parsnip very out of the ground, it is better not to pull the foliage, but also to help the tuber from below. With a shovel or a spit fork.
