Love-in-a-mist (Nigella) - Seed

Love in a mist.

Romantic and elegant with soft blue flowers from which beautiful, light green seed pods emerge after flowering.

Beautiful for a bouquet, but also beautiful to leave in the border. An additional advantage is that you are then assured of new Damselflies in your garden the following year. This annual is easy to grow and undemanding. Can also be grown in a pot.

Sowing

Sow in autumn September or early spring. Doesn't like to be transplanted so it's best to sow it directly outdoors. Thin out if necessary, because love in a mist can reach 50 cm in height and 15 cm in width. For continued flowering, repeat sowing every four weeks until the plants begin to self-sow.

Edible

The beautiful petals are edible and taste slightly spicy, a bit like Oregano and Marjoram. Beautiful to decorate your salad and/or sweet dishes.

Butterflies and bees will also be found in abundance on the flowers.
