Alfalfa sprouting seed

This organic alfalfa is easy to sprout. The taste is quite neutral and fresh, which makes alfalfa suitable for all salads or smoothies. Both in cold and warm dishes. Try adding a pinch to your stew or pasta, delicious! Due to its neutral taste, alfalfa is also suitable for young children.

Nutrients

Alfalfa is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, D, E and K. phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium and proteins.

Germination guidelines

  • Days to sprout: 3 to 5 days.
  • Soaking time: 4-8 hours.
  • Yield: 1 tbsp of dry seed yields 1.5 teacups of sprouts.

Soaking: Place 1-2 tablespoons of seed in a jar with a sprouting lid or a piece of gauze with elastic. Add water, shake and let drain. Refill the pot with water and let it soak for 4 to 8 hours. This is not necessary, but it will ensure faster germination. Drain well and place the pot in a light spot, on the counter or windowsill (not in the sun).

Rinsing: Rinse the pot with water twice a day, turn it over and place it diagonally in a colander and let it drain briefly.

You can store the sprouts in the refrigerator for about 5 days.

Alfalfa microgreens (young sprouts with leaves)

Days to microgreens: 7 to 12 days.

  • Cover a bowl or container with unbleached cotton pads and wet them.
  • Squeeze out any excess water from the cotton wool.
  • Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of seeds over the pads.
  • Place the bowl in a light place but not in direct sunlight.
  • Check every day whether the pads are moist.
  • Keep the pads moist with a plant sprayer.
  • After two days you will see the seeds germinate.
  • Cut off the shoots if the sprouts have formed leaves.

Have fun sprouting!
It's really not difficult.
